Dr. Cadigan, member of steering committee, Ocean Frontier Institute (OFI) Northwest Atlantic Institute Redfish Symposium, Marine Institute of Memorial University, St. John’s, NL, Novemeber 15-16, 2018.

“The purpose of the symposium is to review current scientific information and currently faced challenges regarding redfish, and to definite activities around some of the outlined challenges, with the goal of determining sustainable harvesting strategies for redfish in eastern Canada.”

Dr. Zhang, presentation, ICES Annual Science Conference, Hamburg, Germany, September 2018.
“Stochastic reference points accounting for non-stationary population dynamics is a trendy research area that has drawn lots of attention from researchers globally. Dr. Zhang used the example of Atlantic cod stocks off Newfoundland and Labrador to demonstrate the promises and challenges of using stochastic MSY that accounts for non-stationary stock-recruitment relationships. This research will contribute to the on-going discussion on how to define and use reference points in a non-stationary world. “

Dr. Zhang, invited external reviewer, Report of the Workshop on management strategy evaluation for Norwegian spring spawning herring (WKNSSHMSE) in subareas 1, 2 and 5, and divisions 4a. and 14a., Torshavn, Faroe Islands, August 2018.
